painting

Study of Claude Monet's impressionism...
Repainted his "arm of seine at morning"

This was done using Acrylic on Canvas. I did frame it at home with the wood work and gifted it to my sister.

Experiments on HTML 5 canvas

Like I mentioned in my tweets before about being excited about the new Chrome Javascript engine and its speed and how google folks were trying to port Quake2 on it... it got me the initial push to try experimenting on it

I have written a Bezier curve evaluation functionality (not using direct Bezier draw method) on this, user can create curves by clicking on the canvas, on the side the blending functions are plotted too, its quite fast to my surprise :)

Give it a try here: http://www.freewebs.com/rishiparkhe/beziercurve.html OR on blog http://graphicks.blogspot.com/p/this-program-demonstrates-working-of.html

Laser scanner experiments (again)

After some break, I am back at the laser scanner experiments.

Today I tried to make a new housing for the laser assembly so that I can place it properly in relationship with the camera. I am planning to create a base platform which has screw holes at known positions so that I can screw the camera and laser housing. That would reduce my initial setup time quite a bit. All this activity was with the intention to increase the accuracy than previous setup :-)

I tried to find some interesting items that were available near me, I have to say that the scanning process today was quite fruitfull.

I tried to run the previous algorithms but it was taking too much time for the model 1, and data was flying around quite a bit, I need to check the logic again, maybe tomorrow again (going to sleep now).

The book shelf

I wanted to fix a nagging storage problem for my books and CDs... They are currently stored in boxes. I haven't unpacked them yet since I don't have proper place for them yet. Sounded like a good opportunity for a carpentry work :) after doing the T junction in college workshop this was the first real object I tried to make.

As being familiar with Blender, it helped to make a quick prototype model in it with the scaled measurements.

I got the plywood cut form the vendor since he had the proper equipment to cut it straight. But he made odd mistakes in millimetres which I had to rectify at home anyway :) since it had to be perfect for the design to work.

Landscape painting outdoors

Landscape painting outdoors... from a follower of impressionism (role models: Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, Renoir)

Original photo at the place

This is a spot at our nearby park location in early sunday morning of the winters. Good artists get inspired anywhere and from almost anything, but guys like me need good subjects to start painting :) I chose an easy subject here with lot of clear visual volume (by turbidity in air) between objects. It makes it easy to identify colour patches. I did not concentrate on the shapes much here, my focus was colour (outdoors we have to work fast as the colour changes quickly with the light), maybe I will retouch that later (I need to work on the sky and the shapes a little bit anyways) The painting is one session, Acrylic on paper.

From Haven't thought about a title yet

Well after a long time (possibly 6-7 months) I sat down for a painting session, that too outdoors! All thanks to a good painter friend of mine. He does good stuff with water colours.
